Pandemic Precautions (or Counteracting the COVID Catastrophe)

The global COVID-19 pandemic has affected all of us in many ways. We have struggled with how to put on this Symposium, or even if we should have it at all. But the years of preparation and countless hours of volunteer work are not easily transferred to another time and location. And, as they say, the show must go on. And just when things were looking a bit brighter this summer, along came the Delta variant surge. No doubt this will affect our final registration count, but we are committed to still having the best Symposium possible, even if to a greatly reduced audience. In order to keep ourselves safe, as well as friends, colleagues, and loved ones back home, we must request that attendees abide by the following:

  • Please be fully vaccinated if attending.
  • Please mask up when indoors, or in proximity to other outdoors.
  • Please maintain social distancing. We’ll try to help with the room set-ups.

We don’t have the means to hold a virtual conference, but we are planning to record all the presentations for future viewing. Unfortunately, we can’t record the workshops or field trips. It’s going to be tough, but with your cooperation we can still still pull off a successful Symposium. Thanks in advance from our staff.
